In the small village of Bushmills, settled on the banks of the river you'll find the oldest licensed distillery in the world. On April 20th 1608, King James I granted Sir Thomas Phillips - landowner and Governor of Co. Antrim, Ireland – a license to distill.

Hugh Anderson registered the Old Bushmills Distillery as a company and the Pot Still became its registered trade mark in 1784. It’s still their mark of genuine distinction today.

In 1885, a disastrous fire destroyed The Old Bushmills Distillery and after it was rebuilt, through the early 1900s, Old Bushmills’ takes in its golden years of whiskey awards. The SS Bushmills, a steamship owned by Bushmills, made it to America in 1890, delivering its Whiskey to the New World before Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Yokohama.

In 2010, Bushmills swept the board at spirits competitions across the world
and is increasingly becoming the primary choice for drinkers who want a taste
of the oldest traditions in Irish distillation.
